Lily Ann Mayes of Grove City, Ohio 2008 - 2014 Obituary

Lily Ann Mayes, our precious 6 year old baby girl, went to heaven unexpectedly on December 21, 2014 when she took a nap in her bed and woke up in Heaven with Jesus. Lily was born October 19, 2008 to Mindy Michelle Moore and Michael Edward (Buddy) Mayes. She was born 2 months premature, with Cerebral Palsy and later began to have epileptic seizures. She weighed 2 pounds 14 ounces at birth, but she never let her health problems define her. But as she grew, they were just a fact of life. Lily had insight well beyond her six years and realized that people just needed to see love in its purest form. She saw no flaws in anyone. Lily was a force that moved every person she ever met. We called it the "Lily Trap". She had the unique ability to meet you, and within a couple of minutes have you in the middle of a rousing game of I Spy, tag, or something similar. She seemed to have the ability to see straight into your heart and apply whatever "salve" was needed to make it feel better.
Lily attended Kindergarten at Grove City Christian School. Lily loved to run more than anything. She worked very hard at her physical therapy to learn to run. And once she did, she ran everywhere. Lily felt the most at home at Nationwide Children’s Hospital where she had occupational and physical therapy each week for years as well as many other appointments. She was a familiar face in those hallways always saying hello to everyone who walked by with her huge infectious smile.
Lily was a born again Christian and loved Jesus with all her heart. Lily’s earthly body attempted to hold her back, but her determination and spirit overcame all her physical limitations. So today, Lily is running, dancing and singing with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Lily was greeted in Heaven by her great-great grandparents Myrtle and Raymond Dobrzynski, Delores and Gordon Groninger, Mildred and Alfred Franklin Eimer Sr. and Margaret and Herbert Moore and her pets Nemo, Cheerio and Spike.
In addition to her parents, Lily is survived by her loving family members who cared for her daily needs, custodial grandparents Debby and Matthew Groninger, aunts Devin Groninger and Tina Williams and uncle Jeremy Moore. She is also survived by grandfathers Donald S. Moore and Christopher Mayes, grandmother Angela Mayes, great grandparents Dessie (G-Maw) and Alfred (Pap Pap) Eimer Jr., Sharon and Terrell Groninger and Theresa Moore, aunts Kristi Mayes, Val Moore, Julie Moore, and uncles Danny, Cody, Robby, Nic, and Corey Conkel, and very special honorary grandparents Scott and Toni Simons.
Friends may visit Monday December 29th from 4-7 PM at The Grove City Church of the Nazarene, 4770 Hoover Road Grove City, Ohio and Tuesday December 30th from 9 AM until time of her going home celebration at 11:00 AM at the church or as Lily called it “Chapel”, which was her favorite class at GCCS besides recess.
